So Far...

So far...
I have been a little frustrated with classes that I need.  I transferred from MACC with my AAT (Associates of Arts in Teaching) and should have been a junior.  For some reason, I am still "technically" a junior even though I actually have enough credits to graduate college.  I know that the Department of Education is continually making changes to requirements, but it can be extremely frustrating.  I had hoped to be student teaching by fall and graduating in December, but that is not going to happen.

I still have hope that things will go smoothly.  I know that I will have to overload most sessions and work extra hard Columbia College and cannot wait to start student teaching and teaching.  I really hope to be placed in a Special Education class; SPED is my true passion!

  1. I am in the exact same boat as you when it comes to classes and senior/ junior placements. I agree that I hope it goes smoothly for you! I also think that you would be an amazing SPED teacher. It is a SUPER hard and frustrating job but it is one of the most rewarding in my eyes. Best of luck!

  3. I can understand your frustration. As an advisor, I can tell you that even though CC has been making the changes and they affect us all, the changes are actually coming down from the state. It's very frustrating when they add requirements. Transfer equivalencies should have been discussed with you in your first advising meeting/once your transcript had been received so you could make an informed decision on whether to go to this school or chose another school that may accept your transfer credit in a way that benefits you better. I'm glad you're sticking with it though. Perseverance is a quality all teachers need to have.
